Objectives - Education
Engage and inspire young people raising and celebrating education achievement
Our Coach Education Programme will;
1. Develop a programme of activities that engage young people raising and celebrating achievement
2. Engage, motivate and inspire 3000 children to learn through curriculum based activities
3. Develop an educational facility (Rams Study Centre) that offers accredited training opportunities and drives revenue.
Whilst our schools programme is huge with over 100 Partner Schools already signed up to the Derby County Partner School Scheme recieving 18 hours of delivery, the education arm of our scheme has a lot of room for development. Our main schools delivery is focused around physical activity and mass participation so is covered within our sports participation section of the busines plan.
We have developed a very strong Planning Preparation & Assessment (PPA) cover programme within the organisation and schools have enjoyed the delivery programme and the assessment process we have put in place. We must develop this further and broaden our delivery focus to offer schools wider variety. We have begun to do this with staff undertaking qualifications in golf, basketball and tennis but we must continue to do this to ensure that our programmes are innovative, relevant and high quality. Over the coming year w have set ambitious targets for the amount of PPA we will be delivering in schools. A major reason for this is the revenue it can create.
We have a number of educational programmes that having piloted; we are looking to mainstream over the coming year. Initial feedback from schools, children and our partners from the delivery of our Schools Citizenship and Racism in Football, Carbon Football Boot Print and Science Programmes has been outstanding and over the coming year we will be working on them to enable us to offer all our partner schools mvoing forward.
The new Rams Study Centre presents a great opportunity to expand the educational provision we offer. With national and local government funding looking unlikely, the opportunity will come to have a greater involvement with the facility and its delivery programme. This is very important to us as an organisation as we are looking to develop our provision around NEET groups.
Over the past 12 months our staff have undertaken a number of coach education courses to enable us to offer organisations and schools accredited courses for participants. Our staff can now now deliver Junior Football Organiser Courses, Football Association Level 1 and Sports Leaders qualifications. This develoment will add value to our delivery programme with the Princes Trust and enables us to expand the Sports factor programme within the city countrywide.
Over the past academic year we have expanded our work experience provision. We have done this to offer a greater opportunity for young people to experience the working environment at a Football club and also to give us a greater opportunity to identify potential Modern Apprentices. The work experience programme continues to be an important aspect of our day to day programme and has become an excellent way to engage with our Secondary schools offering pathways that are not participation specific.
