Girls Centre of Excellence make a fantastic start to the season

We were delighted in the summer to be one of the 30 organisations nationally that were granted a one year FA Licence to run a Girls’ Centre of Excellence for the 2011 – 2012 season.
The Derby County Centre of Excellence has had a terrific start to the 2011/12 and is already performing very well against some very well established teams such as Manchester United, Everton, Liverpool and Blackburn. We have worked very hard over the past two years to establish our centre as one of the best in the country and we have continued that great work into the new season.
The players have started the season well and are putting in some great work in training and some excellent performances on the pitch. Although we don’t keep scores in centre fixtures, if we did our teams would be doing very well in deed.
Derby County Girls Centre of Excellence continue to look for girls to join their new under 9's training squad. Sessions are free and started on Monday 10th October 4pm-5pm at Frederick Gent School, South Normanton, DE55 2ER. Please contact Claire Potter on 07792318768 for more information. Also we will be running sessions at Derby University, Kedleston Road, Derby, DE22 1GB from 5.45pm-6.45pm. Please contact Natasha Naqwi on 07920774825 for more information

Our congratulations go to Sophie Baggaley, our Derby County Centre of Excellence under 17's goal keeper who has been with the England U17’s squad for their UEFA 1st Round Qualifying matches against Israel, Northern Ireland and Finland, in Northern Ireland, during October 2011. Not only that but Sophie has also been named Bolsover District Junior Sportswoman of the Year. Sophie has been honored for her talent and commitment and everyone at the centre is very proud of Sophie and the success she is currently enjoying.
