Derbyshire Disability Player Development Centre

The Derbyshire Disability Player Development Centre is now up and running, with regular training sessions being held at the University Of Derby. The centre currently has 13 players from the following impairment groups: Learning Disability, Cerebral Palsy, Deaf and Partially Sighted.

The Player Development Centre follows a technical program focused on developing individual technique. As part of the player pathway, the Player Development Centre identifies talented players from grassroots football and gives them the opportunity progress as part of a formal FA centre.

Being part of the Player Development Centre also gives the players a chance to move up to the next level on the player pathway, being forwarded on to FA Regional Impairment Specific Squads.

“The Disability Player Development Centre is an opportunity for young players between the ages of 12 and 16 to access a high level coaching program, challenging each individual’s football ability. As a Development Centre player, these young people have are on the pathway to becoming the next England/Great Britain representative such as Derbyshire players: Leon Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Sean Priestley.” – Sam Turner (Disability Football Development Officer).
