New disability football session with Buxton Juniors Football Club

As part of the Derbyshire Inclusive Football Clubs programme, Buxton Juniors Football Club are starting a weekly coaching session for people with a disability to take part in the nations favourite game.

Buxton Juniors are a Community Charter Standard Club, and as part of their provision for the local community, they will be running a weekly coaching session for male and female players aged 16 years+ with a disability.

The Inclusive Clubs programme covers the county of Derbyshire, providing opportunities for people with a disability to take part in accessible formats of the game. Buxton Juniors are the first club in the High Peak area to become part of the Inclusive Clubs programme, leading the way for other clubs in the future.

Sam Turner, Disability Officer at DCITC, said: “Through an Inclusive Football programme we aim to provide sessions which meet the needs of every player involved. With the dedicated work of Alice and Jan, and others who support them, Buxton Juniors are allowing many young people to play football who otherwise may not have had the chance. It is only through the fantastic efforts of these volunteers that we can continue to develop football participation for people with a disability.”
