Young Rock Winners Move Audience At Dance and Singing Final


The search has ended for The Movement’s 2011 dance and singing champions. Ammunition were crowned winners of the Rock Your Body Street Dance Challenge and Tamar Simpson (13) scooped the Rock Your Voice top title at an electrifying finale at Derby’s Assembly Rooms on 27 November.

Derby County's Kickz Dancers going from Strength to Strength

This autumn the Kickz dancers will be moving their weekly sessions to a larger facility. Started 3 years ago the project was set up as alternative activity for young people in the Derwent area of the city, where Derby County had successfully been engaging local youngsters in Kickz football sessions on the race course. The Dance project, which was run by teachers from local group Star Steppers was meant to run for only 6 weeks as an additional activity for girls who wanted an alternative to football.

The Movement Inspires Girls To Get Active

The Movement - a partnership between Derby County in the Community and Derby City Council has been granted the Inspire mark by the London 2012 Inspire programme.
Volunteers from The Movement celebrate 'On Your Marks 2012 One Year to Go Event'
On Wednesday 27th July Raminder Bhalla and Hajirah Mirza, who are a part of The Movement, volunteered their time at Derby’s On Your Marks 2012 One Year to Go event.
The One Year to Go Event marks exactly a year until the Olympic games hits Britain. The day was celebrated in Derby with a variety of events and DCITC put ona variety of sessions for the Derby public to get involved in.
The girls from Derby Moor had a variety of tasks throughout the day. They particularly enjoyed talking to members of the public promoting what The Movement project can offer to young females in Derby and handing out balloons to children.
This is just one event that girls of The Movement will volunteer at this summer, demonstrating the girls’ enthusiasm to get involved in community activities and to promote physical activity engagement.

Derby County in the Community awarded top marks for 'The Movement'
Derby County has been named the winner of the Best Community Project (Sports Participation) as part of the Coca-Cola Community Club of the Year Award and has also recieved a high commendation at The Football League Awards 2011.
