The search has ended for 2010's Movement Dance Crew and The Movement’s first Rock Your Voice champion. Freshmonds were crowned winners of the Rock Your Body Street Dance Challenge and Elisha Cooper won the Rock Your Voice contest at an electrifying finale at Derby’s Assembly Rooms on 31 October.

Freshmonds will head down to London to design their own Nike trainers and take part in a dance class at Pineapple Studios in December and Elisha will receive £100 of Westfield vouchers. Second and third places in the Rock Your Body Challenge were awarded to Ammunition and Essence both from Saint Benedict School and Performing Arts College.

Azaliah Kydd scooped runner up in the Rock Your Voice competition. Freshmonds’ Lili Webster-Sanchez, Vanessa Barford, Kennady O’Brien, Karmara Hutchinson and Giovanna Brown (all from different schools) were thrilled to win. Giovanna said: "We knew the standards were high this year but we just wanted to prove we could go out there and dance. We are all really pleased that we've won especially as we've only been dancing together a few months. We met at The Movement's Advanced Step Up 2 Dance class and we all get on well. We'll definitely carry on and enter other competitions."

Elisha Cooper, who sang a stunning rendition of Adele’s Make You Feel My Love, added: "It's the first time I’ve won anything for singing and I’m really happy."
Around 600 friends and family cheered on the eight finalist dance groups and two female singers. Top UK choreographer and dancer, Kymberlee Jay returned to present the event which included star performances from the Step Up 2 Dance Crew and The Movement’s dance coordinators. Dance and music industry experts judged the competitions.

34 groups made up of 155 girls entered Rock Your Body and 16 auditioned for Rock Your Voice, both organised by The Movement - a partnership between Derby County in the Community and Derby City Council’s b-active initiative.

Sharon Dale, Project Manager for The Movement concluded:
"The dance and musical talent showcased at this year's final has been exceptional and we've been delighted to include a performance from all the girls involved in Step Up 2 Dance classes. Some of the girls have never danced before they got involved with The Movement so it's a real testament to their hard work and commitment that they’ve reached this far."
